1918 - 2014
Philip trained as a surveyor and worked for the Ordnance Survey, Southampton until 1939.
During World War II he served in the Royal Engineers based in the Middle East.
After the war Philip attended the Southern College of Art and obtained a Double National Diploma (NDD) in Illustration and Painting. He won a travelling scholarship to study in the Paris ateliers (1951).
Philip taught art at Winchester and also privately. Chairman and founder of the Chandlers Ford Art's Society. Living in Chandlers Ford Philip worked as an Artist, picture restorer and antiques dealer.
He exhibited at numerous galleries including the Royal Academy and the Royal Institute, London. His paintings are in various private collections including the Mayor of Winchester', Southampton Art Gallery, Hampshire Cultiral Trust and at the Rose Bowl, the home of Hampshire cricket.
Philip worked in various mediums but was best known for his landscape paintings of the Hampshire countryside.
